M.Sc ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Overview :

Artificial Intelligence is one the most exciting and fastest growing areas of the ICT industry and research. It has the potential to positively transform every aspect of all our lives, from Smart Cities and Autonomous Vehicles, through to improved healthcare services and low-carbon economies. Artificial Intelligence has the capacity to provide intelligent solutions that can help us to tackle many of today’s greatest societal challenges.

The full-time M.Sc in Artificial Intelligence is taught by renowned, interdisciplinary NUI Galway experts in the field. It covers over two semesters many complementary areas of Artificial Intelligence, including Meta-Heuristic Optimization, Deep Learning, Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems.

Academic Requirements :

4 years UG Degree in Computer Science with First Class Honors (70 to 75%) from a recognized university or third-level college. However, a good Second Class Honors (65%) can be deemed sufficient on the recommendation of the Programme Director.

IELTS Requirement : 

Minimum IELTS score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.5 in the writing ability category and no less than 6.0 in the other categories.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT : 

The minimum requirement for admission to this programme is 55-60% in honours bachelor degree in a cognate area (e.g. computer science, IT, science, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, business (including quantitative methods), maths and management information systems, OR a non-cognate Level 8 Honours Bachelors award with three to five years’ experience in analytics. 

Given the ever-increasing volume of data that businesses have access to today, there is a demand for employees who have computational, analytical and business strategy skills who can inform business decisions to increase efficiency and an organization’s value. This Master of Science in Business Analytics has been developed with the aim of providing learners with the knowledge, skills and research capability to critically analyze, implement and evaluate big data concepts and techniques in order to generate valuable insights, thereby assisting with strategic business decisions, increasing productivity, profitability and an organization’s value and market share.

This is an interdisciplinary programme that focuses on business management, data analytics and computing. It is designed to appeal to graduates seeking to gain exposure to the technology and data-enabled business model.
