Foreign Medical Graduation Examination , abbreviated as FMGE is an Indian Medical Licencing Test. FMGE Examination knew as screening test for Indian Students who have studied MBBS from Abroad. FMGE Exam is also valid for Indian overseas Nationals. FMGE is not an entrance test but it is a Medical licensing test. FMGE Examination is conducted by NBE (National Board of Examination). FMGE was introduced in 2002.
FMGE Exam is conducted twice in year by NBE (National Board of Examination) for Indian citizen and Indian Overseas Citizen. Such candidates should have completed primary medical degree equivalent to MBBS outside India. To Practice medicine in India It is mandatory for such candidates to pass FMGE Exam in order to register with National Medical Commission or State Medical Council. Thereafter they are allowed to practice medicine in India.

FMGE Eligibility Criteria or Who can apply for FMGE EXAMINATIONS ?
The eligibility criteria for applying for FMGE Examination:-
The candidate must be an Indian Citizen or Overseas citizen of India.
The candidate must have primary medical degree (MBBS equivalent) from the recognized medical Institution. These medical Institutions should be listed in the World Directory of the Medical School by the WHO. And should be recognized by the competent authority of that respective country.
Candidates are required to provide necessary documents in support of primary medical education from the Foreign Medical School.
The candidates of the five English speaking countries are exempted from FMGE Examinations: UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. They can register directly with NMC (National Medical Commission) or any other State medical Council
